Mission/Outreach
Calvary supports many local, regional and international programs that help God’s people in their time of need, spreading encouragement and hope. Our efforts are also part of the greater Presbyterian efforts in a variety of areas.
Calvary’s mission activities take many forms, including:
Ongoing Programs
Food Cupboards
Calvary supports local food cupboards year-round by donating non-perishable food items and helping to staff them on a monthly basis.
Please help the Mission Committee by bringing non-perishable food items (e.g. breakfast cereal, spaghetti sauce, canned fruits, tuna fish, peanut butter and jelly, etc.) to the church. Items are delivered weekly to the three area food pantries. If you're having trouble getting items to church, call the office to arrange a pick-up.
Caring For Friends
Caring For Friends' mission is to serve needy, isolated shut-ins, primarily the frail elderly, in the 5 county Greater Philadelphia area, with free daily home-cooked meals delivered weekly by empathetic volunteer visitors, and also to provide shut-ins with free outreach services. The goal is to help our home-bound “client/friends" maintain their cherished independence by supporting their determination to remain in their own homes for as long as possible.”
Throughout the year Calvary volunteers cook hot meals and freeze them. The meals are then taken to the AFF distribution facility in northeast Philadelphia. We also make breakfast bags which contain non-perishable breakfast and snack items.
International Mission
Calvary is committed to supporting a Presbyterian mission worker who has recently relocated to Peru working with organizations there on issues of environmental justice.
