Despite temperatures outside in the single digits, 28 wonderful volunteers from Calvary were able to help regional organizations by:
The day culminated with a wonderful lunch with the hardy members of the Lunch Bunch. It was great to finish our work with time for food and fellowship with other Calvary members.
A big thank you from the mission committee to all who helped make the day a special one, who gave of their time and talents to help others.
- Assembling 100 breakfast bags, 50 bags of sandwiches, 50 frozen meals and 60 Comfort Cups for Aid for Friends, which provides “home visits and meal deliveries, … aid and advocacy…, to help our friends survive in their own homes and maintain their independence.”
- Creating 50 Valentines for residents of the Village, which promotes “the healing of the spirits of children, families and communities broken by trauma including violence, neglect, addiction, poverty, mental illness, racism and other serious societal problems.”
- Assembling 25 bags of supplies for the homeless, delivered to The Welcome Church, a worshiping community that grew out of The Welcome Center, a place of healing and hospitality. One initiative of the Welcome Church is "The Well”, a site for a small group of women. The women not only have a place to sleep, but also a place to share dinner and breakfast together.
